Sophie Poinar

Sophie joined Branch MacMaster LLP in 2025 as an associate. Her practice focuses on insurance, health law, and class actions. Prior to joining Branch MacMaster, Sophie articled with the City of Hamilton, where she gained experience in a broad range of municipal matters. Sophie attended law school at Western University, where she was actively involved with the Community Legal Services Clinic, handling files in civil, family and criminal law. During law school, she also worked as a cross-disciplinary research assistant for the Schulich School of Medicine and the Department of Legal Education, examining the different approaches to public advocacy between medicine and law. 

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys playing pickleball with her boyfriend, attending live comedy shows, and testing the most intriguing drinks on local cafe menus
